Q: What does a scopist do?
A: A scopist works with court reporters to create top-notch transcripts. This means that we read the transcript word-for-word, with or without audio. Scopists check for mistrans and untrans, we perfect grammar and punctuation, conduct research to ensure the accuracy of names, dates, addresses, etc., assist with formatting, create indexes, and more!
Q: What software do you use?
A: I scope on the latest version of Case CATalyst, and I also use Express Scribe to edit audio as needed.
Q: Can you read steno?
A: Yes! I am fluent in steno.
Q: Can you help me build my dictionary?
A: Of course! Dictionary building is always included with my services. Dictionary updates can be sent to you on your preferred schedule.
Q: Will you scope in accordance with my preferences?
A: I always scope according to each reporter's personal preferences. I have an extensive preference sheet which I will keep as long as we are working together. Your preferences are always a priority!
Q: Do you work on weekends and holidays?
A: I don't include weekends in turnaround time, and I do not work on major holidays.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: I am very flexible with payment methods. I currently accept payment via Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, and Google Pay. If you are unfamiliar with these payment methods, I can help you get set up, or we can discuss alternatives.
